Getting Started

Embarking on your wellness journey with The Myo Studio is a collaborative process. Here's how we begin:

1. Complementary Virtual Consult (30 minutes)

A free, compassionate conversation to understand your concerns and review your Online Intake Questionnaire. This is your space to feel heard and to learn whether myofunctional therapy is the right fit.

2. Comprehensive Initial Assessment (2 hours)

If care is appropriate, we schedule a full evaluation. This includes posture and rest assessment, extra- and intraoral photographs, functional testing, and a detailed care plan.

3. Treatment Plan Presentation

We review your care plan together. You will understand your goals, the expected timeline, and what success can look like. You will know where we are going and how we will get there.

4. Individualized Therapy Program

Therapy sessions are focused, progressive, and tailored to your needs. Most patients complete their program in six to eight months, depending on their starting point and specific goals.

before your visit

Preparing for your complementary virtual consult

To honor your time and make the most of our conversation, we ask that you complete the Online Intake Questionnaire first. Once submitted, you will receive a private link to schedule your 30-minute virtual consult.

ONLINE INTAKE QUESTIONNAIRE

This confidential form gathers information about medical history, breathing and sleep patterns, oral habits, and functional concerns. You will also be guided to upload photos of your oral rest posture and facial profile.

Once these steps are completed, you will be able to schedule your 30-minute complementary virtual consult. This ensures our time together is focused, informed, and truly tailored to your needs.

What to Expect at Your Initial Assessment

Your first visit is a detailed look at function, not just symptoms.

This two-hour session allows us to assess how the mouth, face, airway, and posture are working together. We take time to understand the root cause, not just what is happening, but why.

During your exam, we will look at:

  • Breathing patterns (nasal vs. mouth breathing)
  • Tongue resting position and oral posture
  • Range of motion (tongue, lips, jaw)
  • Suspected tongue-tie or other oral restrictions
  • Swallowing coordination and muscle use
  • Jaw stability, tension, and joint clicking
  • Head and neck posture
  • Facial development and symmetry
  • History of orthodontic treatment or relapse
  • Speech clarity and articulation patterns
  • Habit history such as thumb sucking or nail biting
  • Signs of airway concerns including snoring, poor sleep, or fatigue

We will also take clinical photographs and review any reports you have submitted.

We strongly encourage all caregivers and decision-makers to attend this assessment, especially when the patient is a child. Myofunctional therapy is most effective when everyone involved understands the goals, the reasoning behind them, and how to support practice at home. This process is not just for the patient. It is for the people who care for them, too.

After your assessment, you will receive:

  • A summary of clinical findings
  • An overview of therapy goals
  • A clear, structured plan for next steps

This visit is about partnership. You will have time to ask questions, understand what we are seeing, and decide together whether therapy is the right next step.
