Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a specialized program of exercises that retrains the muscles of the face, mouth, and airway. It supports healthier breathing, chewing, oral rest posture, and the oral phase of swallowing. The goal is to address root causes of dysfunction and create lasting change in the way the body functions.
We work with children, teens, and adults. Those experiencing challenges such as mouth breathing, poor sleep, oral habits, tongue posture issues, jaw discomfort, or orthodontic relapse may benefit from therapy. Candidacy is determined through a review of your intake questionnaire and comprehensive in-person assessment.
Some children may begin therapy as early as age four, depending on their developmental readiness and ability to participate. For habit elimination specifically, we begin at age five. Every case is considered individually, and readiness is assessed during the intake and consult process.
Yes. Adults frequently see improvements in breathing, sleep, jaw stability, oral posture, and overall function. Age does not limit your ability to make meaningful progress when therapy is personalized and consistent.em.
Only the initial consultation—a 30-minute virtual meeting to review your intake form—may be completed online.
The comprehensive initial assessment must be conducted in person, and the first eight weeks of therapy are in person to ensure proper coaching, technique correction, and habit training.
After this period, virtual sessions may be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on clinical need, progress, and age.
Most patients complete therapy within six to eight months. The exact duration depends on age, consistency with home exercises, and the complexity of functional issues. Your personalized treatment plan will include an estimated timeline.
